Here’s some tips to help get your application noticed and increase your chances of getting hired.

Think “customer service”, if you don’t have any job experience, don’t worry.  We all need to start somewhere and hiring managers know that.  Especially for entry level type positions.

Target Entry Level Positions – What a manager looks for.

  • Courteous
  • Responsible
  • Neatness
  • Respectful
  • Dependable
  • Going the extra mile
  • Trainable
  • Dedicated

So if you have no work experience, how can you show these traits?

  • Organized sports – team player
  • Boy Scouts – follow directions, service oriented
  • Girl Scouts – follow directions, service oriented
  • Holding a Class Office – Trustworthy
  • Church activities – coordinating events, directing youth, choir
  • Play an instrument in band or orchestra – learning an instrument is complicated playing well means you’re dedicated
  • Babysitting – Trust, caring, responsible, dependable

So those are a few tips to apply online at Target.

Kroger Grocery Store Application

March 7, 2009 by admin

Kroger is a wonderful company to work for.

Why? Because most of the people are friendly and easy to get along with.

I submitted my Kroger grocery store application. That lead me to being hired at Ralph’s. I made so many friends in the company, as I often worked at different stores. Not because I had to, but because I wanted to. That allowed me to move up through the company faster.

Now that Kroger owns even more chain stores, you can literally change your career within the same company. I highly recommend Kroger. Although I left the company to pursue a career in Computer Technology, I still keep in contact with many of the friends I made from Ralph’s.

If you apply for a Kroger grocery store, just keep in mind a few things.

Make sure, you stay out of trouble. Because if you get reprimanded for something, you’ll never get back in. As an example, I knew a guy that was caught not paying for things. He’s been searching for a job for the last 2 years. Just because he didn’t pay for some chips and soda. Kroger has very strict rules on employee theft, no matter how small.

Make sure you always do more than you are asked. That’s how I went from bagging groceries to stocking shelves. The difference in pay is huge! Once you hit “jouneyman” status, you’ll be making very good money. Another thing is if the Kroger store manager likes you, you’ll get all the overtime. That’s very important, because the more hours you put into a higher level position, the quicker you become a “journeyman” (remember, BIG bucks!).

If you have reliable friends, have them submit a Kroger application and let your manager know. The more trustful and hard working people a manager can get (through your help) the more “perks” you get.

Always, and I mean always, go the extra-mile. I received many compliments from customers (who also told my manager how happy they were) and I scored big points. I even had some customers that would wait for me to come back from my break, just so I could help them. What did I do that was so special? If they were elderly, I always helped them with their groceries to the car. Even if they told me they didn’t need my help. I also knew a lot of people who liked to use coupons. So as I got to know people, I would recommend other items that were on sale and a coupon was available to save even more.

It’s not hard to do more than you are asked of. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had my share of irate customers, but I still tried to keep a pleasant attitude. Often times people are stressed out and they take it out on whoever they happen to be dealing with. That’s just a way of life. But I took it as a challenge to try and change their mood. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t. If you can become the person to help the people that no one else wants to deal with, trust me, your manager will know. Another big plus.

My customers would always ask me if their son, daughter, niece, nephew, friend, grandchildren or next-door neighbors could submit a Kroger’s grocery store application. I asked a few of them why and they said it just seems like a fun place to work.

I hope this was helpful to you and I wish you luck on getting a job at a Kroger grocery store or any store in the Kroger company.

10 Tips To Increase Your Chances Of Getting A Job:

Part 1 of 2

  1. Your Attitude – Your #1 Asset
  2. Your Appearance – Yes, looks matter… but not how you think
  3. Your Skills – Almost Everything Goes
  4. Your Experience – No experience? No Problem, if you do this
  5. Your Personality – You Can Build A Positive Personality

Part 2 of 2

  1. Your Character – All about you, you and you
  2. Your Activities – Your Hobbies Can Indicate, Who You Are
  3. Your Goals – Without Them, You’re Doomed
  4. Interview Tips – Separate yourself ahead of the pack
  5. How to make a great impression if applying online
  6. **BONUS** How to “Fast Track” your way UP, through the company – knowing this will almost guarantee you a job… if you make it to the interview.

Part 1 of 2

Your Attitude – Your #1 Asset

The number one way f increasing your chances of getting a job is a positive attitude. A negative attitude will come across in the way you fill out your application and/or create a resume. So unless the employer is desperate and you’re the only applicant, your chances will be “slim-to-none” in getting the job.

So how do you create a positive attitude? Simple, become one who helps others and you will naturally become positive. Why? Because you go from selfish to giving. Giving people are always positive thinkers because they put others first.

Your Appearance – Yes, looks matter… but not how you think

Your physical appearance is important. That doesn’t mean you need to have the latest fashions or be physically stunning. You just need to appear confident without coming across as stuck-up or egotistical.

Wear a smile on the outside, as well as, on the inside.

Your Skills – Almost Everything Goes

How can your skills relate or apply to the position you are seeking? For example, if you are known as the “computer expert” in your family. In an employers eyes, that translates into responsibility, helpful, intelligent, dedicated and reliable. Same goes if you have baby sitting skills, which also includes patience and kindness to a higher degree.

Your Experience – No experience? No Problem, if you do this

If you don’t have actually work experience, don’t fret Just as above, you can use your life experiences that relate to the position you are seeking. For example, if you were in the Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts. They translate into so many different areas. And… if you held an office or job role of some source, that’s even better.

Ok, so what if you don’t have that type of experience? Surely there are things in your past or things you are currently doing, that can be beneficial. What do you do or have you done that required dedication, compassion, persistence, creativeness or the like? Remember, when it comes to a first job, managers know you don’t have practical work experience. So what you lack in work experience can be made up by life experiences.

Your Personality – You Can Build A Positive Personality

Just as your attitude is important, your personality also plays a huge role. A dismal personality will also reflect in how you come across through writing and speaking. Now that doesn’t mean you need to be overly bubbly, but you do need to be caring, grateful, full of hope and positive. An overly bubbly attitude can be very irritating and management doesn’t want someone who irritates everyone. On the flip-side, management doesn’t want someone who brings everyone down.

Part 2 of 2
